Grey Heron Post

Field notes and photographs from slow mornings by the water

What I carry

A secondhand body, a 100–400 mm zoom, a beanbag instead of a tripod, a flask of tea and a folding stool. Binoculars matter more than the camera: you have to find the bird before you can photograph it.

Clothes in dull olive and grey, nothing that rustles. Waterproof boots, always.
